I have an Oscar that i have had for some time and it is dying. I think my Oscar fish is dying and I don t know what to do. Now he is staying close to the top and somewhat sideways.

It wasn t doing so well a few weeks ago and i got milo and treated the water and he seemed to get a little better but he is deteriorating each day and yesterday he just laid on the floor and you could tell it was hard for him to breathe.

Oscar fish He stayed on the bottom of the tank for several days not coming to the surface to eat as he usually did. I have one parrot fish and 4 silver dollar fish with him. This has been the same for a year. I clean the tank fairly often. I got two oscars day before yesterday while one of them doing fine as of now. This one wasn t doing very good the store owner said it s nothing to worry about. Is this skin ulcer if yes then how can we treat it. I think my other one is starting to develop it too. I think my oscar is dying help crash me not. Hi i got 2 I had fed all of my fish pellets and my medium sized black moor ate to much to fast. The problem with feeding pellets is that when fish eat them before they expand in wate the pellets expaned in the fishes tummy

I suggest taking him out of the take and putting him in his own tank I have an oscar fish that is rather big. I have him in a tank 150litres. So the tank is big enough and i tested the water. He is just sitting on the bottom of the tank and has gone really pale. He isnt swimming much. He is a grey fish with a bright orang. Not the grey had gone almost white i heard these fish are really sulky. I ve had oscars before never had problems. I moved from the country with well water to the city with city water set up my tank. I put in chlor out to neutralize the water. Sunday a day later i purchased 2 small oscars.

They seemed okay that day. Monday the water got really cloudy we were told this could go away in a few days. Tuesday we bought minnows for them to eat. I have bought an oscar fish from the shop yesterday only a little baby at the moment. When i got home the bag was floating in the tank with the oscar in it and he just kept lying on his side at the bottom of the bag. After we let him in the tank he went to the floor and keeps lying on his side. About every half hour he gets up and swims around then goes back to floating on his side at the Most of these symptoms apply to all kinds of fish and can easily be used to discover what is making a fish sick. The advised course of action when deciding if a fish is dying is to observe it for about twenty minutes. After discovering the symptoms it is recommended to check online resources to find the diagnosis of a fish. Many people do not even realize that euthanasia is an option for fish but if your fish is in pain and slowly dying it is an option you might want to consider. Some people still decide to never euthanize their fish -- they would rather just let nature take its course with the fish and let the fish die on its own.
