Oscar fish I have an oscar that i have had for some time and it is dying. Fish died in a fish tank that is too small. A small fish tank has very little water. Too little water means too little-dissolved oxygen which we have discussed earlier. Too little water means more unstable water temperature hardness ph. Pollution also builds up more quickly. Some people even keep fish in small containers bowls cups jars. Everything seemed ok then the other day i woke up to feed the fish and my oscar was upside down on the bottom of the tank. He had no color his scales looked like pencil shavings and he had pop eye foggy eyes .

I don t know why this happened and it was weird because it was so sudden. He died that same day. He was also bullied a bit but i don t see how that would of caused it. Nitrate shock can also occur in a mature aquarium.

This may give the other fish a chance to claim some territory for themselves rather than getting picked on wherever they are in the tank. I don t think this is a tried and tested way of stopping the fighting and aggression but it is certainly worth a try if you really don t know where to go. I have had nothing new in the tank at all. No ornaments no fish and had no fish deaths since my cory was found in one of my plants about a month ago now. I came up with the conclusion he must of been ill or old to scramble himself down into the plant like i found him. All the other questions you asked i try to keep them in a good routine. Malawi bloat is a type of aquarium fish disease that is most common among african cichlids.this disease manifests in the form of symptoms such as swelling in the abdomen rapid breathing loss of appetite discolored feces and lolling at the bottom of the tank.
