Hi I just got a new oscar from petsmart 2 hours ago . I added him into my cycled aquarium. Now the oscar is at the bottom of the tank and not moving.

I acclimated him by adding half a cup of water every 10 min.

I prefere using gravel in my oscars tanks since oscars dig sand can some times get in to the filter and damage it. I use natural pea sized gravel and never had any problems with it And you don t have to worry about your o eating any of it the only thing that could happen is a few grains of gravel getting caught in your oscar s gills as he or she picks up mouth fulls and spits it. The biggest mistake a lot of people make is to feed their oscar on foods that are unsuitable and unhealthy. To give your oscar fish the best chance in life we recommend feeding it on healthy foods at all times. I am shakeing is for about 10 secs.i have about 2 to 3 inches of gravel..i been cleaning graval vac once a week.tank been up for over a month i also i have a seeded filter sock in one of my filters from a local fish store..i have a oscar a jack dempsey a repeal catfish and a baby pelco in the tank with oscar..ammonia is never higher I kept my big guy on both gravel and sand at one time or another. Sand would be nicer on their mouths since they do like to excavate. Also don t be too nailed to the decor oscars love to do their own decorating.
