The onset of cloudy eyes in aquamarine fish is quite common and it can occur due to many factors. What is Popeye disease The pop eye fish disease is mostly not a life-threatening one although at times the bulging eyes of the fish do not completely heal and remain slightly larger than usual even after complete recovery.

The cloudy eye syndrome is more commonly known as the popeye disease.

Oscar fish The popeye disease which is also called exophthalmia is caused usually by an infection in which the eyes of the fish get swollen and bulge outwards. The best way to keep this disease that attacks gold fish cichlids and all other fish in your aquarium at bay is by maintaining the fish tank Just because a fish has bulging eyes doesn t mean there s a problem. Some fish breeds like the black moor goldfish and the celestial eye goldfish are prized for their large telescoping eyes which are perfectly normal and healthy. Sometimes however cloudy and swollen eyes can indicate popeye disease in your aquarium fish. Listed here are some common symptoms of the three most likely causes of fish illness. Bacterial infections lethargic often inactive for long periods of time bloated body cloudy eyes bulging eyes abscesses red streaks throughout its body loss of colour open sores inflammation or reddening of the skin. The fish eye bulges out in this manner because of fluid build up either behind the eye or in the eye itself. The first signs you will notice is that one or even both eyes are starting to bulge. Slowly with time it can bulge to such an extent that the fish will look really shocking with the bulge.

Fish can develop tumours which will cause swelling in the abdomen. Unfortunately the only treatment for this is surgery which would probably be futile as the fish would probably not survive. Internal bacteria or viral infections in fish can often result in them having a swollen abdomen body. Quite often the eyes bulge and the scales are raised. Gas bubble disease in the eye of a fish. Symptoms can vary but are mainly as follows some of the disease that targets the fish eye makes the eye larger. You would literally be able to see the enlarged eyes. If you see enlarged eye take immediate action consult a piscine specialist. There may be parasites lurking in the eyes of the fish. I have two 3-4 inches long albino oscars in my 20 gallon tank.

My tank is equipped with all the necessary equipments and artificial plants. One of my oscars seems to have a problem with one eye. Though the bulge isn t huge it still is noticeable. It is eating and doesn t have any visible signs of sickness no ich no hole-in-the-head. The problem is my other oscar is being pretty aggressive If you have caught it in the last 24 hours it is still at quite an early stage. This seems like pop-eye to me the eye bulging out. Keep an eye on your fish and just see if it becomes white around the eye glazed over with fuzz and if this happens this means that your fish does in fact have pop-eye and it is advised that you run to the pet store to get either liquid or powder treatment.
